Summary
AcademySTAY is seeking a compassionate, experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to provide on-site, in-person mental health services to former foster youth living in our housing community. This role is central to supporting students’ emotional well-being, stability, and long-term success in education and independent living.
The LCSW will provide individual therapy, crisis intervention, assessments, care coordination, and consultation with program staff, while helping build a trauma-informed, supportive community environment. The ideal candidate is clinically strong, culturally responsive, and passionate about working with transition-age youth who have experienced foster care, housing instability, and complex trauma.
Essential Duties
- Provide on-site, in-person individual therapy to AcademySTAY students using trauma-informed, evidence-based practices.
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, risk assessments, and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and coordination of higher levels of care when needed.
- Collaborate closely with Case Managers, Operations staff, and leadership to support student stability and success.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute clinical insight to student support planning.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with ethical, legal, and organizational standards.
- Support referrals and coordination with external mental health providers, psychiatry, hospitals, and community resources as needed.
- Provide psychoeducation, coping skills development, and emotional regulation support to students.
- Consult with staff on trauma-informed approaches, boundaries, and supportive interventions.
- Contribute to the development of mental health programming, groups, or workshops as appropriate.
- Stay current on best practices, legal requirements, and ethical standards related to clinical social work and transitional youth services.
Qualifications
- Active California LCSW license (required).
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience preferred (experience with transition-age youth, foster youth, or high-acuity populations strongly preferred).
- Strong background in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and complex case management.
- Experience working with young adults impacted by foster care, homelessness, poverty, or systemic trauma strongly preferred.
- Excellent clinical judgment, documentation skills, and professional boundaries.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
- Salary: $75,000–$85,000 DOE
- AcademySTAY offers a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement, 13 holidays, and unlimited PTO.
- Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with occasional evening hours as needed for crisis support or programming.
- Work Location: This is an in-person, on-site position based at AcademySTAY’s Sacramento housing complex.
