Job Description and Duties
Under the administrative direction of the Vice Chancellor of College Finance and Facilities, the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Fiscal Services* will serve as a member of the division leadership team. The incumbent is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership, and oversight of the accounting, budget, and fiscal services units and oversees approximately $13 billion in annual funding for the community colleges and an approximately $30 million annual state operational budget. The Assistant Vice Chancellor, through the direction of the Vice Chancellor, directs section administrators responsible for the direction of three division units.

Job Duties include supervising staff with a hybrid work setting within the state of CA.
Employee must reside in CA for a job appointment.
This position is has a Hybrid work setting, including telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on the Chancellor’s Office’s evolving telework policy. The Chancellor’s Office supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to the headquarters office in Sacramento if an urgent need arises.

Working Conditions
Ability to supervise the work of others in a remote/hybrid work setting
Ability to use standard computer and/or office machines for an extended period of time.
Work in a climate-controlled, open office environment under artificial lighting.
Exposure to computer screens and other basic office equipment.
Periodic presentations wil be required.
Ability to effectively work in a hybrid/telework setting within the state of CA.

- Knowledge/experience with the state budget process.
- Knowledge/experience with state accounting requirements.
- Knowledge/experience with California Community College local assistance and categorical program apportionments.
- Knowledge/experience with the Student Centered Funding Formula.
- Strong analytical, research, and presentation skills.
- Advanced Excel knowledge and abilities.
- Supervisory experience over a diverse team responsible for management of a highly complex funding structure
- Ability to communicate confidently and courteously in a clear and concise manner within a diverse community and in public settings.
