Evan then spent some time working for Marie Callendar's on Freeport Blvd. where he learned to bake. When Evan decided he was ready for a more formal education \,but a fine cullinary school seemed out of reach\, he moved to San Francisco to learn his craft in the kitchens of two of San Francisco's finest restaurants in North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf. In 1986 Evan returned to Sacramento to pefect the art of Sautee at the Clarion Hotel under Chef Don Rey. In 1990 Evan helped open Andiamo! as one of the original chefs. After stints at America Live and The Delta King\, Evan was offered the Head Chef position at Morton's of Chicago. He departed soon after because\, although it was an amazing opportunity\, the Head Chef at Morton's did not cook. Evan moved on to the Limelight Cafe where he could write his own menu. He also returned to Andiamo! for one more year in 2003. After that Evan opened his first restaurant\, The Family Room in 2004. Evan's Kitchen followed in 2006. Evan has also consulted on several other restaurants and also opened a few more such as Sophia's and The Corner.\n\n Evan has won several cooking competitions including the first State Fair competition in 2004 and the 2011 Sacramento Celebrity Chef Challenge. His other favorite hobby is flexing his artistic muscle at his many Wine Maker's Dinners hosted at Evan's Kitchen several times a year.
